Tomahawk Tavern - Drinking at Turner Field
Beer is in no short supply at Turner Field. In the stands you’re generally limited to Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and the like, but the convenience can’t be beat. The red kiosks in the concourses offer a bit more, and the selection varies.
The most distinctive selection is found at the Tomahawk Tavern stands. Red Stripe, Pilsner Urquell, Heineken, and Blue Moon are here, as well as Tomahawk Amber Ale, a rich, deep Anheuser-Busch product (!) exclusively made for Turner Field. The second floor of the Chop House is home to frozen margaritas and various mixed drinks. Red and white wines are also available.
And Atlanta is the birthplace of Coca-Cola, so Coke products are omnipresent. Tip: don’t scoff at paying nearly $5 for a bottle of water, because it’s a 24-ounce bottle and is ice-cold—two prized conditions during an Atlanta summer.
If where you drink is more important than what you drink, try these two open-air locations:
Chop House, second floor: Walk up the stairs near Tooner Field, stop by the bar, buy your preferred libation, adjourn to the patio, stand next to the railing, and watch the right fielder chase down a long fly.
Top of the Chop: One level up from the Chop House, behind the AT&T sign, this used to be Turner Beach (complete with sand and lifeguards) but is now a big hangout area with picnic tables and ample viewing room. Beer and wine are available at the long enclosed booth.
