Road Trip An Itinerary for Busch Stadium

The St. Louis Cardinals have a long and illustrious history, and any visitor should take the time to soak some of it in. So plan to stroll around the stadium and visit the statues of former Cards’ greats Stan Musial – in Musial Plaza outside Gate 3 – Bob Gibson and Ozzie Smith, as well as legendary and late broadcaster Jack Buck. And don’t be afraid to give them a rub for good luck – in fact, it’s encouraged. … If it’s more Cardinals history you’re craving and you’ve got the time before first pitch, head to the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum, located across the street. … Also close by is the famous Gateway Arch and the Museum of Westward Expansion along the banks of the Mississippi River. They are must-sees during your time in St. Louis, but leave plenty of time to do so. … Before heading into the game grab a Gus’s pretzel from a vendor; they’re a local favorite in the traditional German style. … Toasted ravioli is another St. Louis tradition and you can get it inside the park, although you may want to wait to hit The Hill after the game, the Italian neighborhood where the ravioli and everything else will be better than what’s served up at a concession stand. … St. Louis is beer city and Anheuser-Busch products are highlighted, not surprising considering the name of the park. If Bud isn’t your thing, have a Schlafly, a local micro-brew. … If you’re looking to get a little rowdy after the game, head to Al Hrabosky’s Ballpark Saloon just a short stroll from the park or the Broadway Oyster Bar, where they serve up Cajun and Creole food as well as bands playing jazz, blues, zydeco and bluegrass. … For some top eats nearby there’s J.Buck’s Restaurant or Mike Shannon’s, both very popular with fans. Better yet, the many restaurants of The Hill are a short car/cab ride away.
